• AN IDEAL TERROIR FOR WINE

Resulting from an exceptional geological heritage, the vineyards of Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé are spread over magnificent hillsides perfectly suited to the cultivation of vines. The soils, constituted of rich and varied natural elements, favour the fineness and subtle aromatic notes of each of our varieties. We cultivate some 62 hectares on the three appellations, Sancerre, Pouilly Fumé and IGP Val de Loire, and our vines are planted on the following three main soil types:

  • THE CAILLOTTES

Chalky, also called "Caillotte", this is a soil rich in minerals which is easy for water to penetrate and that offers fine fruity wines.

  • THE WHITE EARTHS

The white earths, also called "large earths", are found on the highest hillsides. With clay-chalk composition (70% clay, 30% chalk), they represent 40% of the Sancerre vineyard. They produce rich, fatty and complex wines.

  • THE SILICEOUS EARTHS

The siliceous earths, called "Flint" represent 15% of the appellation. Flint stores the sun's heat during the day and releases it overnight. The wines coming from this terroir are very typical and have a clear and elegant mineral feel.
